I agree with having a guest worker program, but not at the expense of making it harder for relatives from other countries to visit here on tourist visas, which is what McCain's plan turned out to be after the twenty-somethingth version of the bill negotiated with just about every congressman and senator with a different view on immigration. What this tells me about McCain is that he is a poor leader. On the other hand, while Romney does take a harder line against illegal immigration, what I really like about him is that he is a proven leader. His greatest strength is that he can take an ill-fated organization and turn it around into a success story. He's done that in business, he's done it with the Olympics, and he's done it as Governor.
