While our values as a culture/people are generally considered conservative, an organization whose goal is to further the cause of a free and democratic Cuba should not be in the business of endorsing either candidate. I do feel strongly, though, that an organization with the voter influence in the likes of the CANF should remind our fellow Cuban-Americans that while change can at times be good, it should be cautiously embraced. Has history not taught our people anything about hastily embracing change? Personally, I am wary of too much "Change" rhetoric. We must weigh the values of the candidates against our own. We should thoroughly evaluate the position of each candidate on major issues impacting our families, our culture, and our way of life. We are a free-market...stay out of my way people with a "Can Do" attitude. I, or rather, WE, don't need a candidate to convince us that "Yes, we can". I know I can...and I do it every day...in every breath...and with the heart and passion America has come to know Cuban-Americans for!

With that said, I don't believe any candidate dares come to Miami or meet with any Cuban American community and say anything contrary to "Down with Castro" (both, might I add). So the CANF and the Cuban American community should let these guys do their "Dog and Pony show" and put on their best faces. We, in turn, bear the responsibility to respectfully remind them that we are about more than just one topic; Yes, a free Cuba is important to me, but tell me more about your positions on the issues important to me and my children. That's how you will win my vote!

Note: To the Chamberlain's in the room...talking to either Castro or Ahmadinejad for that matter will earn you nothing. How naive to think we can talk to brutal, crazy men and somehow convice them to change course. There were those who thought they could talk Hitler out of WWII!
