I am the technical admin on the blog. For the most part we agreed to only remove posts that had excessive profanity or links to adult content and SPAM and content of that ilk. We haven’t run across of that material which is great.

The particular comment that you point out that was removed was actually a comment by Andro who if I recall correctly accidently posted the same comment twice or had some sort of issue with the comment and asked to only have one appear.

If you read through the comments on the blog I think you’ll clearly see we welcome and encourage opinions from all angles. It’s one of the main goals of this blog to provide a forum for discussion and debate.

When CANF released its study of the use of these USAID funds, leading to these reviews, it was criticized by some who claimed CANF was attacking other Cuban organizations.

It was not CANF's intent to attack anyone by releasing the analysis that it had performed on the use of USAID funds. Instead, it's intent was to protect the best interest of a free Cuba by making sure that these USAID funds were used for the precise purpose for which they were designated and not anything else. If the majority of the funds that are meant to go directly into Cuba to help support the dissident movement there are instead used for other purposes, then a disservice to the cause of a free Cuba and to the intent of these funds is being done and as such it must be corrected.

CANF’s mission is to further and support efforts that have the best chances of bringing freedom to Cuba and to speak up, without fear, when that is not occurring. This sometimes makes CANF unpopular with some, but it was with this purpose in mind that Jorge Mas Canosa founded the institution and its for this purpose that it exists. That must not be forgotten. It was in that spirit that CANF conducted the study that it conducted regarding USAID funds and it is encouraging to see that its work on this issue is having the intended effect - making sure that the funds that are allocated by the U.S. government to help dissidents on the island get there.

Its about time this inefficient use of funds geared toward humanitarian relief is examined. Critics of U.S.-Cuba policy claim that the U.S. has had the same policy on Cuba for the past 50 years and Cuba hasn't changed. The Cuban American National Foundation has done great work to make this a public issue. Through their hard work and dedication, change is among Cuba. If not for the CANF, the newly issued funds would have been continuously misused.

This is a tremendous step towards bringing freedom to Cuba. Those funds were being misused and everyone knew it. These new investigations will ensure that those funds are used for their intended purpose, bringing change to the island through direct cash aid.
